Hyena Self Portrait

For my Drawing Fantastic class, we were assigned to make a self portrait of ourselves as an animal, the animal or creature had to represent something about us or a our personality. I thought I'd suit well as a hyena, I'd say I'd have a lot in common with hyenas. I have provided the prelimenary sketch before scanning and taking it in to Photoshop for some clean up and touch up. Enjoi!

Storyboards! (Part 1)

Last semester, I took a Comic Book Integrated Learning class where me and a group of other majors in my school would have to come together to pitch a comic book idea. I was fortunate enough to have my idea chosen to pitch to a group of people who are heavily involved and experienced in the industry. (One of them was Bill Morrison from Bongo Comics.)

My group and I decided to all bring our skills together to present the comic pitch as professionally and interesting as possible.

The following is some concept artwork I personally provided for the comic idea I presented and I will be uploading the rest later as well as all three animatics that I provided for pitch presentation as well as the response to our presentation.

"Crazy Love"

Crazy Love from Dustin Garcia on Vimeo.

The following was my final project for my Visual Effects project. I animated and directed the project since my animatic and storyboards were selected for the project by my instructor.

The goal of the project was to create a PSA. Originally this piece was meant to be a pro-peace and love PSA, but that obviously has changed to a Pro-Gay PSA.

The character model that I animated was created by Ramtin under the alias of "Moom". You can download the latest version of Moom here:

Modeling and texturing done by Hunter Rosenberg. You can find him here:

Textures and compositing were done by both me and Mason Traeger. You can find him here:

The Boy & the LIttle Bean

Last year when I was a sophomore, I did a nightmare assignment to make a short film. The result, The Boy & the Little Bean. This was definitely one of the hardest assignments I've ever done in school and I hope to remake this someday. Enjoi!
